Admissions Requirements &
Process
South Texas Children's Home Ministries (STCHM) is
licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as
a General Residential Operation. Before a child can be received into
care, STCHM must complete an admission assessment to determine that
the needs of the child can be met here. The first step is to contact
the social services department and complete the application. A
caseworker will be happy to answer your questions and assist you with
the application.
To be considered for placement, the child must meet the
requirements listed below:
-
Children living at South Texas Children’s Home
Ministries must be willing to cooperate and work toward goals both at
the Children’s Home and at school.
-
The child’s intelligence must be within the
average range. (South Texas Children’s Home Ministries may not accept
a child into care whose needs can be met in a facility specializing in
services to the mentally handicapped.)
-
The child’s behavior must be of a controllable
and manageable nature which will allow them to function within the
cottage-group living situation at STCHM. (South Texas Children’s Home
Ministries may not receive children who are in need of a Residential
Treatment Center.)
-
The child’s physical condition must be
satisfactory and the child must not have any physical limitations
which would prohibit STCHM programs from meeting the child’s needs.
-
The child’s behavior or health may not endanger
other children or themselves.
South Texas Children’s Home Ministries is licensed to care for
children from ages 0-17 and will consider children from within Texas
as limited by the program.
