Dominican Republic Disaster Relief

In October and December of 2007, the Dominican Republic experienced devastating flooding during tropical storms Noel and Olga. More than 130,000 people were directly affected, most of whom were displaced from their homes. These conditions caused even more hardship in a country where childcare and medical needs are already a major concern.

STCHM contributed $5,000 toward Dominican Republic disaster relief after the storms and channeled another $10,000, donated by area churches and individuals, towards DR relief efforts.

More recently, STCH Ministries has provided school supplies and backpacks to children who have lost belongings during the periodically flooding, as well as to children who are unable to afford uniforms or books to attend public school. Some of these children are fortunate enough to live in an area where Christians have established schools to help meet their needs and make education possible for them.

Contributions to STCHM’s Humanitarian Aid fund may be made at any time. Funds to purchase medications, children’s vitamins and school supplies are needed year-round. As urgent needs come to our attention, information and details about those needs will be posted on this site. To email us for more information, click here.
