South Texas Children’s Home Ministries (STCHM) as a resource.
STCHM has been in the caring business of
providing a home to children who need it since 1952. Since that time,
many children from throughout South Texas have found comfort and
security in one of the 14 STCHM cottages on the Boothe or Marshall
campuses. Boothe Campus is located approximately 20 miles north of
Beeville and Marshall Campus is outside Goliad.
Children come to live at STCH Ministries for many reasons. Sometimes,
Parents or Grandparents …
. . . Can no longer care for children due to their own health problems
or issues
. . . Are experiencing depression due to behavior related concerns
with the child
. . . Are dealing with substance abuse issues
Sometimes a family breakup has occurred due to
divorce, violence, or incarceration.
Sometimes STCHM is a temporary home until difficult
circumstances or sources of conflict
can be resolved within a child's family.
When families need a more permanent solution,
STCHM is "home" until a child graduates from high school.
STCHM receives many privately placed children as well as children
placed by the State and other agencies. Often churches, pastors, or
concerned friends refer families to STCHM. We are a General Residential Operation licensed by the Texas Department of Family and
Protective Services to provide Basic Level of Care.
STCHM's Residential Childcare Program
provides:
-
Quality care in a loving, family environment for
ages 0-17
(to children living within the State of Texas who meet the requirements for admission)
-
Rural setting with horseback riding and chance to
raise project animals if desired
-
The opportunity to grow socially, mentally and
spiritually
Children living at STCH Ministries live with a
couple who serve as houseparents. Each cottage functions much like any
household would, with meals being prepared in the cottage and the
family planning activities together. The children attend public school
and local churches, and they participate in a variety of
extracurricular activities and sports. Because the children in our
care are truly a part of our family, STCHM provides each of our
graduates with an opportunity to attend the college or trade school of
the student’s choice.
Contributions toward care and donations are
welcomed and appreciated, but STCHM does not charge for its services.
Residential Childcare services are provided regardless of a family’s ability to
pay.
Our pages on admission requirements, frequently asked questions, and the online application will give you a greater understanding of our residential program. Please read them carefully to determine if STCHM can meet the needs of the child or children you feel could benefit from residential care.
