In 2017, Ladies for the Least members voted on several projects, with the winning project being: International Ministry’s Raquel’s School in the Dominican Republic. Raquel’s School is providing a Christian education to children who might not otherwise have access to many educational opportunities. STCH Ministries has been involved with the school for several years, providing the means to rebuild the original broken-down building into a clean, solid, and well-equipped facility.

The school has now grown to the point where more room is needed. A new extension would allow for more children to be reached and educational services provided. Ladies for the Least voted and was able to raise the funds for this project!

The new project consists of a two-story building and is located next to the other facility, connected by a hall on the second floor. Construction is almost finished. The first floor is already complete, consisting of the principal’s office, a lobby for the receptionist, and a waiting area. The first floor also has a large room which serves for toddlers in the morning and for after-school activities, homework, and school reinforcement in the afternoon. The facility also includes two restrooms and a shower.

At the time of this writing, the second floor is in its final stages of construction and will have a computer lab, two classrooms, two restrooms, and storage for cleaning supplies. The building is expected to be finished by the time of publication.

Students have increased from 140 to over 160 this current school year, and staff has increased from 12 to 17. The new project will allow Raquel and her staff to reach even more children with God’s love and the hope of a better future.

We are expectantly waiting to see God’s hand and blessings as He continues to work in the Dominican Republic and in Texas, through the giving and generous hearts of our Ladies for the Least members!
