Hope for the Future: Daniel’s Story
Learn how one young man found healing and a plan for his future through the Samuel’s Fund sponsorship.

Daniel came to the Higüey Boys Home in 2013, a six-year-old boy who had endured abuse and rejection from his family. Born in poverty, unwanted, hope for the future was almost non-existent.
But God had a different plan. As Daniel began to experience stability, nutritious meals and the loving guidance of Christian caregivers who saw value in him, he changed from a sad, frightened boy to a determined, hopeful young man. Most importantly, he was introduced to the transforming love of Jesus Christ and learned that his worth was determined by the God who created him.
Daniel committed himself to his studies, respected his teachers and developed a reputation for his exceptional character. The other children affectionately nicknamed him “the little pastor,” as he lived out his faith in the way he related to his peers. Through the support of STCH Ministries and faithful Samuel’s Fund sponsors, Daniel received a quality education along with English instruction. This support, combined with his own hard work and perseverance, opened doors that once seemed impenetrable. On July 1, Daniel graduated high school with honors. He completed his senior year with an emphasis in Administrative Business Management. Recently, Daniel completed an internship at a local business where he was able to put many of his new skills into practice.
Daniel is the first young man from the Higüey Boys Home to graduate from high school with honors. He stands on the threshold of adulthood equipped with education, faith, character and practical skills for the future. The frightened six-year-old boy who arrived at the ministry years ago has become a confident young man prepared to contribute to his community and pursue God’s purpose for his life.
His accomplishments demonstrate that children in desperate situations can become responsible, faith-filled young adults when they are provided with practical support and caring leadership.
Daniel’s story also reflects the broader impact of our International Ministries. Higüey Boys Home, a long-time partner of STCH Ministries, provides a loving, structured home, education and life skills to orphaned, abandoned or at-risk boys in the Dominican Republic. Our International Ministries partners with local organizations like Higuey Boys Home because we know they can give children like Daniel new hope for the future. Through sponsorship, education, discipleship, healthcare and consistent follow-up by Christian caregivers, children who once faced uncertain futures are discovering new possibilities.
