One of the students you’ve helped is Jian. He and his mother first heard about STCH Ministries while attending one of our Faith & Finances courses together. It was there that they both realized this 15-year-old’s dream was to go to college.
“We lived in a tough situation and didn’t really see a way out of it. My mother loved me but didn’t have the ability to nurture me in the way I needed. She knew I wanted more out of life than she could provide.”
Jian’s mother made the decision to move him to Boothe Campus.
“If I could describe my experience at STCH Ministries in one word, it would be peaceful. Because of STCH Ministries, I no longer had to worry about my basic needs. I had the freedom to pursue my future, and for the first time, I felt hopeful about who I could become.”
After two and a half years living on Boothe Campus, Jian was accepted at Texas A&M Kingsville. This past May, he graduated with a degree in psychology. Jian says he feels God’s call to student ministry, and he just finished his second summer interning on Boothe Campus. Jian found hope; now he’s sharing it with others.
“STCH Ministries continued supporting me throughout college. I chose to study psychology because as I learned more about my identity in Christ, I could better understand how to process the trauma I experienced. It helped me to love others the way Jesus loves me, and recognize God’s patience, faithfulness, and steadfastness in my life. I am thankful for the hand STCH Ministries has on my life. The Lord has a way of making things come full circle. I returned to Boothe Campus to share the Gospel with kids like me.”
Jian’s story demonstrates an important truth: an investment made in a student’s life will bear fruit for years to come.
